I want to like Granite Peak, but they make it so difficult to. I ski all around the midwest with my 2 young boys, and find Granite Peak to be the most expensive. Kids only ski free until 5 years old, regular prices for juniors and adults are higher than anywhere else we ski in the Midwest, and they have a no carry-in food policy. People who ski every weekend bring their own food. Period.
Nice, Family oriented ski hill in the Midwest. Probably the best terrain in the area, with the exception of Lutsen.
They need an area for parents that come to hang and wait for their kids...otherwise perfect!
I go there with kids because the mountain is decent size and has variety of trails, hoping each year that management has changed or some improvements were made.
Place has a lot of potential, but it is mismanaged. Certain areas get overcrowded, and certain are left cold and not utilized. Ski school teachers are not experienced and food is terrible. Lifts are outdated and things that break are not repaired instantly. In my opinion it is always understaffed.
A good place for beginners. However, ticket prices and hours were different from online than when we arrived. Chalet was incredibly crowded as well. We were sad one lift wasn't even open. This place would be comparable to Welch Village in MN. We still had a good time despite the above complaints.
