Think twice about whether it's worth your money, time and health coming in to donate. I was told today I couldnt donate because of a bruise on my left arm from playing football. They said it was still ok to donate, but then the lady said no anyways because I donate more with my left arm than right. Which leads me to believe donating causes health problems for the body to heal itself. It was also a complete waste of time to come in due to the costs of going to the facility (factor in car milage, not just gas!), and I won't be donating for the rest of this week. Lastly, if the bruise on my arm mattered then why aren't they checking peoples' entire bodies for bruises every time?
It's especially not worth it if you get rejected on your second donation of the week because if your costs are too high you simply lose. Remember, the only reason they don't give the fair half amount your first visit is so THEY get something (plasma) from you twice instead of once.
There are quite a few negative reviews on here but honestly I was there for the first time last night and these negative reviews only created unnecessary anxiety reading them before I went. I was treated with respect and care and was informed about everything they were doing and what my plasma was being used for. Don't let the negative reviews scare you into not going. Its an easy process and everyone was upbeat and cheery and made sure I was ok through out the whole process despite the busy evening.
Tried to donate for the first time. Apparently I was dehydrated even though I drank extra water. My friend came to donate too and was also not able to donate. The kicker is they told me one week and I could donate again and they told her 6 months. It only takes a few hours to rehydrate so this makes no sense to me.
They are understaff and not very clean between patient. They don't change gloves between donators. I have seen them touch a blood gause and go to another person. You are taking a risk of catching something.
I triee to donate plasma here but since i'm allergic to bleach i couldn't as they use bleach to clean their fscility. However the staff there was incredibly nice as is the facility!
It sounds like a good deal at first but if you're traveling even a mildly long distance and you get rejected then youre losing money. Forget the undisclosed health problems.
